GOT COLD HANDS?
Then this is ideal for you. A "hand sized" (15cm x 11cm) instant heat hand warmer.
Simple to use, just click the little metal disc inside the pack between your fingers, and watch the gel turn to crystal before your eyes, and in about 10 seconds you have instant warmth. (Approx 20-25c or 70-80f.) Heat, that lasts for around 30 minutes.
BUT, it gets better than that! When its cooled down, just drop it in a pan of boiling water for approx 10 minutes, until the crystal turns back to a liquid, allow it to cool, and it can be used to warm your hands over and over again.
These don't always need boiling water to recharge them. They can be recharged by any heat source hot enough to completely melt the crystals. Most family car heaters will generate enough heat to melt the crystals, BUT all the crystals MUST be completely melted or the pack will rapidly crystallize again.
NOTE: The heat source must NOT be hot enough to melt the vinyl cover, and these cannot be recharged in a microwave. The heat source must be direct.

COLD PACKS
These amazing little pads have another use, if you cool them in a fridge (NOT A FREEZER!) for about an hour to about 3-8c, they will retain the cold temperature for about an hour, so they can be used as cooling pads as well.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
They work because the main ingredient is an Exothermic compound (gives off heat as it freezes). The Gel packs contain Sodium Acetate (CH3COONa) and Water. Sodium Acetate is an amazing chemical, (think about Mercury, this is a metal, but at room temperatures it exists as a liquid) The "freezing point" of Sodium Acetate is 130f (54c), but it exists as a stable liquid at lower temperatures, clicking the disk forces some molecules to change to the "solid state", this in turn starts a "chain reaction" within the rest of the liquid forcing the pack to "freeze" at 54c. Boiling the pack "De-frosts" the Solid, and as long as EVERY crystal has melted, the Sodium Acetate returns to a very stable liquid state on cooling and just like freezing and defrosting water, this process can be done as many times as you want!!
