We recently received an email from Patricia D, from Lenzie, telling us about the "Subway Challenge". She sent us a link to the video, so we took a look. After watching it, we managed to track to the star "Colin Baird" and asked him about it. Below is his description of the event and a link to see it for yourselves. "At the start of 2005 a member of the Glasgow University Sailing Team - Sam Thompson, challenged me to race the underground in glasgow from Buchannan Street station down buchannan street to St Enoch station. The distance is about 600m and the train covers the distance in about 60 seconds. However, I'd have to get out of the train, past the passengers, up the stairs, onto my bike, sprint to the station then off and down the stairs back onto the same train. It took about five of us to get it all filmed and it was a great laugh. We posted the video on a friends website and recorded thousands of hits within a few weeks. It wasn't long til old school friends were getting in touch and random people in the pub and at uni were asking if I was "That Subway Challenge guy?". So did I make it? You'll need to watch it to find out!! www.teamteacake.com/subwaychallenge.shtml" Now the gauntlet has been thrown down, can you take up the "Subway Challenge"? |
