Put simply, Duckies look like a cross between a white water raft and a Canadian Canoe. They take 2 people at a time, use kayak paddles to power/steer them and are a lot of fun. One of the companies that offer these strange looking craft is "Nae Limits". As mentioned on the Cliff Jumping page, Nae Limits are a fantastic company. They are always looking for new and exciting activities to offer. The Duckies are just one of these. Their website is well worth keeping an eye on. The day started with some paddle-work on a flat slow moving stretch of the river. Here, we practiced our paddling and steering skills. When John and Biscuit were satisfied that we could handle the duckies, we started our trip down river. During the trip we had a go at surfing some waves, rode through some rapids, (of varying grades), and generally had a great time. We also had a chance to explore some of the local waterside landmarks. The trip lasted around 2 to 3 hours. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, each trip can be very different. On our trip the largest rapids were around grade 3, but later in the year these can grow to grade 5s. Hopefully, we will be back up in Scotland to have another go then.
